  • What Should I Expect from Therapy?
    Expect: Your emotions, attitudes, beliefs, and behaviors to be modified. Changes in your relationships, marriage, and other aspects of your life. To join/participate in the process with the therapist. To be heard, and to have your feelings validated in a caring, non-judgemental environment. Remember therapy does not take all your problems away, therapy helps you manage and learn new ways of handling them.

  • What Should I Expect from the Phases of Therapy?
    Assessment Phase: sessions last from 50 to 90 minutes. You will complete an intake packet and meet with the therapist in a calm relaxing environment to talk about your issues, expectations, and goals for therapy. Treatment Phase: sessions are biweekly and last from 45 to 50 minutes. We continue goal setting while discussing treatment plans to meet your goals. We implement the plans, incorporate coping skills, and assess for progress. Maintenance Phase: sessions are bi-weekly to monthly and last from 45 to 50 minutes. Goals are being met and observable progress is being made. You are feeling better and handling life situations with less help from the therapist. Termination Phase: You and the therapist are in agreement that goals have been met and progress has been made. We discuss changes observed throughout the phases of therapy. We discuss resources for the future and signs for when therapy may be needed again. You will receive a certificate for your completion of therapy.
